GH- What is going on with Spinelli?

Is GH taking a page from the "Family Matters" scripts and doing a
"Urkel turns into Stefan" thing? I missed the whole the
"transformation" after Spenilli gets shot. Can someone tell me why
he's taken on this persona? And could you also tell me when it's
going to end because it's really lame!

I use to love Spin, but now he's very annoying.
